The Laboratory of Field and String Theory at EPFL, led by Joao Penedones, focuses on Quantum Field Theory and String Theory. Their research aims to develop non-perturbative methods for studying quantum field theories and explore gauge-gravity duality to investigate quantum gravity. The lab collaborates closely with other high-energy theory laboratories at EPFL and organizes seminars at the Institute of Physics and CERN. Their work delves into the structure of space at the smallest scale, the behaviors of matter, and the emergence of spacetime from quantum field dynamics.
