The Aztekin Group, also known as Aztekin lab - Laboratory of Structural Regeneration, focuses on understanding limb and tail regeneration in animals like frog tadpoles and salamanders to potentially enable human limb regeneration in the future. By characterizing cell types and interactions critical for regeneration, the group combines traditional developmental biology approaches with innovative imaging and sequencing technologies. They develop ex vivo and in vitro systems to simplify the study of limb regeneration, aiming to uncover mechanisms not feasible to investigate in vivo. The group's research has led to publications that shed light on the cellular behaviors driving regeneration and the differences between regeneration-competent and regeneration-incompetent species.
