Laboratory of Nanoscale Electronics and Structures

The Laboratory of Nanoscale Electronics and Structures (LANES) at EPFL focuses on nanoelectronics using two-dimensional materials like monolayers of transition metal dichalcogenides. Pioneering the field, they demonstrated the first 2D semiconductor transistor, leading to advancements in electronic, excitonic, spintronic, and optoelectronic devices. Their research spans material growth, electrical properties of 2D semiconductors, and applications in logic operations, integrated circuits, photodetectors, and hybrid 2D-3D heterostructures.
