The Sensory Treatment Laboratory at EPFL, led by Prof. Carl Petersen, focuses on understanding sensory perception and associative learning in the mammalian brain. Through experiments on mice, the lab investigates reward-based learning and context-dependent sensory perception, aiming to unravel the neuronal circuits and synaptic mechanisms underlying these processes. By employing a range of methods including behavioral, electrophysiological, optical, molecular, and computational approaches, the lab aims to elucidate how specific neuronal networks contribute to sensory information processing in a learning- and context-dependent manner, leading to goal-directed motor output.
