The Bioelectronic Microscopy Technology Platform, located in the AI building, is a specialized laboratory within the School of Life Sciences at EPFL. They focus on the preparation and imaging of various biological samples using cutting-edge scanning and transmission electron microscopy techniques. The facility offers a range of methods for imaging biological structures, from tissues and cells to single molecules. They specialize in correlated light and electron microscopy, enabling the imaging of structures previously observed with light microscopy. Additionally, they are involved in research projects such as the preservation of cell structure using different fixation methods to explore the true architecture of tissues and cells. The facility has been involved in various studies related to neurobiology, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and neuronal metabolism.
