Aurèle Parriaux studied geology at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in Lausanne, Switzerland. He obtained his Ph.D. in hydrogeology and followed several postgraduate courses in hydrogeology, operational hydrology and geotechnics. He acquired a wide experience in engineering geology in the fields of motorway construction, geological hazards, underground water and geomaterials prospecting as well as the management of natural resources. In 1991, he was appointed full Professor of Engineering Geology at EPFL and presently he is head of the Engineering and Environmental Geology Laboratory (GEOLEP) at the same institute. He leads a research team of about twenty people specializing in the fields of geological hazards and underground resources. Professor Parriaux has significant teaching responsibilities. He teaches geology to students in 'Civil Engineering' and 'Environmental Sciences and Engineering'. Moreover, he teaches Engineering Geology at the Universitiy of Lausanne. Parallel to his research and teaching, Aurèle Parriaux carries out expert appraisals in various fields of engineering and environmental geology. In particular, the recent appraisal of the compatibility between construction of tunnels and protection of groundwater resources. Since the creation of the new School of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering (ENAC) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, he participates in the teaching related to territory and landscape into which he brings the geological and geomorphologic component. Aurèle Parriaux is active in several international organizations. He was chairman of the Swiss Hydrogeological Society for six years. From 2001 to 2006 he was Director of the Civil Engineering Section of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne. In 2006, he published his book "Géologie: bases pour l'ingénieur". The second edition of this successful textbook has been published in 2009. In competition with 105 scientific books, Géologie : bases pour l'ingénieur received the Roberval Prize in 2007. The publisher CRC Press/Balkema, member of the Taylor & Francis Group, publishes an English translation of the book (Geology: basics for Engineers, 2009). In December 2008, Prof. Parriaux was nominated Chevalier of the Order of Academic Palms by the Prime Minister of the Republic of France. In September 2011, he left the EPFL to dedicate his time to being an independent expert. Prof. Parriaux is currently based at Chemin de Crêt de Plan 103 in La Conversion CH-1093 (www.parriauxgeo.ch). He is continuing his collaboration with EPFL, especially on the DEEP CITY Project and on landslide research.

Pierre-Yves Gilliéron

Originaire de Mézières (Vaud), né en 1964, Pierre-Yves Gilliéron obtient un diplôme dingénieur en génie rural et géomètre à lEcole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) en 1988. De 1988 à 1990, il travaille au laboratoire de photogrammétrie de lEPFL où il participe à un projet de recherche en traitement dimage avec le partenaire industriel LEICA. De 1991 à 1997, il est engagé par un bureau dingénieurs du Valais où il est actif dans le domaine de la géomatique. Responsable du secteur de la photogrammétrie, il dirige des mandats tant en Suisse quà létranger. En 1997, il rejoint lEPFL et il est nommé chargé de cours pour le positionnement par satellite et la topographie. Parallèlement, Il collabore à la recherche et au développement au sein du laboratoire de Topométrie (TOPO) dans le domaine des systèmes de navigation appliqués aux transports. Dès 2018, il occupe le poste d'adjoint à la direction de la section en sciences en ingénierie de l'environnement (SIE) de l'EPFL. -- Il a été membre du comité de lInstitut Suisse de Navigation (ION-CH), de la commission géodésique suisse (SCNAT/SGK), de commissions d'experts de la VSS, du comité its-ch et de diverses associations professionnelles (IGSO, geosuisse, SSPIT).

Alfred Rufer

Originaire de Diessbach (BE), Alfred Rufer est né en 1951. Il obtient en 1976 le diplôme d'ingénieur électricien de l'EPFL et poursuit son activité dans le même établissement en tant qu'assistant à la chaire d'électronique industrielle. En 1993, il est nommé professeur-assistant au Laboratoire d'électronique industrielle. Au début 1996, il est nommé professeur extraordinaire. En 1978, il débute son activité dans l'industrie de l'électronique de grande puissance à la société ABB, Asea Brown Boveri à Turgi, où il contribue au développement d'entraînements réglés à fréquence variable. Dès 1985, il exerce la fonction d'assistant technique et de chef de groupe. De 1988 à 1991, il poursuit le développement de nouveaux systèmes d'électronique de puissance dans différents domaines d'application. A. Rufer est l'auteur et co-auteur de plusieurs demandes de brevet, ainsi que de plusieurs publications. De 1991 à 1992, il est chef d'un département de développement d'appareils d'électronique de réglage et de commande pour l'électronique de puissance. Durant son activité professionnelle dans l'industrie, il participe activement à l'enseignement technique dans plusieurs écoles d'ingénieurs.

Benoît Jean Dominique Ferrari

Biologiste et biochimiste de formation, Benoît J.D. Ferrari a obtenu son diplôme de doctorat en Ecotoxicologie à lUniversité de Lorraine (Metz, France) en 2000 en travaillant sur le développement dune approche dévaluation du danger écotoxique des déchets solides utilisant une batterie de bioessais dans le cadre dun projet interdisciplinaire suivi par lAgence de lEnvironnement et de la Maîtrise de lEnergie (ADEME). Après avoir passé presque 7 années à Irstea (anciennement Cemagref) à Lyon en France (périodes 2000-2002 et 2008-2013) et avoir occupé un poste de Maitre-assistant à lInstitut F.A. Forel à Genève (2002-2008), il a acquis au travers des projets franco-suisses et européens quil a (co-)pilotés une expérience forte dans le domaine de lécotoxicologie et dans les approches pluridisciplinaires. En Octobre 2013, il rejoint le Centre Suisse dEcotoxicologie Appliquée (Centre Ecotox Eawag/EPFL) en tant que responsable du groupe Sol et Sédiment. Sintéressant à létude de lécodynamique des contaminants et leurs effets sur lécophysiologie des organismes, ses compétences et ses thématiques de recherche appliquée couvrent aujourdhui : Le développement dindicateurs écotoxicologiques dexposition et deffets pour évaluer le stresse chimique Lintégration des indicateurs écotoxicologiques dans des approches de laboratoire et de terrain pour le diagnostic de la qualité des écosystèmes Le développement de bioessais adaptés pour le biomonitoring actif Le transfert de compétence vers la sphère opérationnelle (formation).
