IndonésiensIndonesians (Indonesian: orang Indonesia) are citizens or people who are identified with the country of Indonesia, regardless of their ethnic or religious background. There are more than 1,300 ethnicities in Indonesia, making it a multicultural archipelagic country with a diversity of languages, culture and religious beliefs. The population of Indonesia according to the 2020 national census was 270.2 million. 56% live on the island of Java, the world's most populous island.
Arabic scriptThe Arabic script is the writing system used for Arabic and several other languages of Asia and Africa. It is the second-most widely used alphabetic writing system in the world (after the Latin alphabet), the second-most widely used writing system in the world by number of countries using it or a script directly derived from it, and the third-most by number of users (after the Latin and Chinese scripts). The script was first used to write texts in Arabic, most notably the Quran, the holy book of Islam.
Malais (peuple)On appelle Malais (orang Melayu) les populations de la côte est de l'île indonésienne de Sumatra, des îles Riau, également indonésiennes, du littoral de l'île de Bornéo, de la péninsule Malaise, de Singapour et du sud de la Thaïlande (provinces de Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat et Songkhla) qui parlent des langues appartenant au groupe linguistique dit « malais ». Toutefois, le fait de parler une langue appartenant à ce groupe linguistique ne suffit pas à caractériser un Malais.
