Study of B-(s)(0) -> K(s)(0)h(+)h '(-) decays with first observation of B-s(0) -> (KsK +/-)-K-0 pi(-/+) and B-s(0) -> K-s(0)pi(+)pi(-)

A search for charmless three-body decays of B-0 and B-s(0) mesons with a K-S(0) meson in the final state is performed using the pp collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb(-1), collected at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV recorded by the LHCb experiment. Branching fractions of the B-(s)(0) -> K(S)(0)h(+)h'(-) decay modes (h(()'()) = pi, K), relative to the well measured B-0 -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-) decay, are obtained. First observation of the decay modes B-s(0) -> (KSK +/-)-K-0 pi(-/+) and B-s(0) -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-) and confirmation of the decay B-0 -> (KSK +/-)-K-0 pi(-/+) are reported. The following relative branching fraction measurements or limits are obtained B(B-0 -> (KSK +/-)-K-0 pi(-/+))/B(B-0 -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-)) = 0.128 +/- 0.017 (stat.) +/- 0.009 (syst.), B(B-0 -> (KSK+K-)-K-0)/B(B-0 -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-)) = 0.385 +/- 0.031 (stat.) +/- 0.023 (syst.), B(B-s(0) -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-))/B(B-0 -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-)) = 0.29 +/- 0.06 (stat.) +/- 0.03 (syst.) +/- 0.02 (f(s)/f(d)), B(B-s(0) -> (KSK +/-)-K-0 pi(-/+))/B(B-0 -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-)) = 1.48 +/- 0.12 (stat.) +/- 0.08 (syst.) +/- 0.12 (f(s)/f(d)), B(B-s(0) -> (KSK+K-)-K-0)/B(B-0 -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-)) is an element of [0.004; 0.068] at 90% CL.

A search for the rare decays B-s(0) -> pi(+) pi-mu(+) mu-and B-0 -> pi(+) pi-mu(+) mu-is performed in a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1) collected by the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. Decay candidates with pion pairs that have invariant mass in the range 0.5-1.3GeV/c(2) and with muon pairs that do not originate from a resonance are considered. The first observation of the decay B-s(0) -> pi(+) pi-mu(+) mu- and the first evidence of the decay B-0 -> pi(+) pi-mu(+) mu-are obtained and the branching fractions, restricted to the dipion-mass range considered, are measured to be B(B-s(0) -> pi(+) pi-mu(+) mu(-)) =(8.6 +/- 1.5(stat) +/- 0.7(syst) +/- 0.7 (norm)) x 10(-8) and B(B-0 -> pi(+) pi-mu(+) mu(-)) =(2.11 +/- 0.51(stat) +/- 0.15(syst) +/- 0.16(norm)) x10(-8), where the third uncertainty is due to the branching fraction of the decay B-0. -> J/Psi(mu(+) mu(-)) K*(892)(0)(-> K+ pi(-)), used as a normalisation. Decays of B-0 and B-s(0) mesons to the charmless baryonic final states p (p) over barh(+)h'(-), where h and h' each denote a kaon or a pion, are searched for using the LHCb detector. The analysis is based on a sample of proton-proton collision data collected at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1). Four-body charmless baryonic B-s(0) decays are observed for the first time. The decays B-s(0) -> p (p) over barK(+) K-, B-s(0) -> p (p) over barK(+/-) pi(inverted perpendicular), B-0 -> p (p) over barK(+) pi(inverted perpendicular) and B-0 -> p (p) over bar pi(+) pi(-) are observed with a significance greater than 5 standard deviations; evidence at 4.1 standard deviations is found for the B-0 -> p (p) over barK(+) K- decay and an upper limit is set on the branching fraction for B-s(0) -> p (p) over bar pi(+) pi(-). Branching fractions in the kinematic region m(p (p) over bar) < 2850 MeV/c(2) are measured relative to the B-0 -> J/psi(-> p) K* (892)(0) channel.

The charmless three-body decays B-(s)(0) -> K(S)(0)h(+)h '(-) (where h((')) - pi, K) are analysed using a sample of pp collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1). The branching fractions are measured relative to that of the B-0 -> K-S(0) pi(+)pi(-) decay, and are determined to be: B(B-0 -> (KSK +/-)-K-0 pi(-/+))/B(B-0 -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-) = 0.123 +/- 0.009 (stat) +/- 0.015 (syst), B(B-0 -> (KSK+K-)-K-0)/B(B-0 -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-) = 0.549 +/- 0.018 (stat) +/- 0.033 (syst), B(B-S(0) -> K-S(0) pi(+)pi(-))/B(B-0 -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-)) = 0.191 +/- 0.027 (stat) +/- 0.031 (syst) +/- 0.011 (f(s)/f(d)), B(B-0 -> (KSK +/-)-K-0 pi(-/+))/B(B-0 -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-) = 1.70 +/- 0.07 (stat) +/- 0.11 (syst) +/- 0.10 (f(s)/f(d)), B(B-0 -> (KSK+K-)-K-0)/B(B-0 -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-) is an element of [0.008 - 0.051] at 90% confidence level, where f(s)/f(d) represents the ratio of hadronisation fractions of the B-s(0) and B-0 mesons.
