Study of the rare B-s(0) and B-0 decays into the pi(+) pi(-) mu(+) mu(-) final state

A search for the rare decays B-s(0) -> pi(+) pi-mu(+) mu-and B-0 -> pi(+) pi-mu(+) mu-is performed in a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb(-1) collected by the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. Decay candidates with pion pairs that have invariant mass in the range 0.5-1.3GeV/c(2) and with muon pairs that do not originate from a resonance are considered. The first observation of the decay B-s(0) -> pi(+) pi-mu(+) mu- and the first evidence of the decay B-0 -> pi(+) pi-mu(+) mu-are obtained and the branching fractions, restricted to the dipion-mass range considered, are measured to be B(B-s(0) -> pi(+) pi-mu(+) mu(-)) =(8.6 +/- 1.5(stat) +/- 0.7(syst) +/- 0.7 (norm)) x 10(-8) and B(B-0 -> pi(+) pi-mu(+) mu(-)) =(2.11 +/- 0.51(stat) +/- 0.15(syst) +/- 0.16(norm)) x10(-8), where the third uncertainty is due to the branching fraction of the decay B-0. -> J/Psi(mu(+) mu(-)) K*(892)(0)(-> K+ pi(-)), used as a normalisation. First observations of the B-S(0) ->psi(2S)eta, B-(s)(0) ->psi(2S)pi(+)pi(-) decays are made using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb(-1) collected by the LHCb experiment in proton proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 7 TeV. The ratios of the branching fractions of each of the (2S) modes with respect to the corresponding J/psi decays are B(B-s(0) ->psi(2S)eta)/B(B-s(0) -> J(2S)eta) = 0.83 +/- 0.14 (stat) +/- 0.12 (B), B(B0 ->psi(2S)pi(+)pi(-))/B(B0 -> J/psi pi(+)pi(-)) = 0.56 +/- 0.07 (stat) +/- 0.05 (syst) +/- 0.01 (B), B(B0 ->psi(2S)pi(+)pi(-))/B(B-s(0) -> J/psi pi(+)pi(-)) = 0.34 +/- 0.04 (stat) +/- 0.03 (syst) +/- 0.01 (B). where the third uncertainty corresponds to the uncertainties of the dilepton branching fractions of the J/ and psi(28) meson decays. A search for charmless three-body decays of B-0 and B-s(0) mesons with a K-S(0) meson in the final state is performed using the pp collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb(-1), collected at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV recorded by the LHCb experiment. Branching fractions of the B-(s)(0) -> K(S)(0)h(+)h'(-) decay modes (h(()'()) = pi, K), relative to the well measured B-0 -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-) decay, are obtained. First observation of the decay modes B-s(0) -> (KSK +/-)-K-0 pi(-/+) and B-s(0) -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-) and confirmation of the decay B-0 -> (KSK +/-)-K-0 pi(-/+) are reported. The following relative branching fraction measurements or limits are obtained B(B-0 -> (KSK +/-)-K-0 pi(-/+))/B(B-0 -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-)) = 0.128 +/- 0.017 (stat.) +/- 0.009 (syst.), B(B-0 -> (KSK+K-)-K-0)/B(B-0 -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-)) = 0.385 +/- 0.031 (stat.) +/- 0.023 (syst.), B(B-s(0) -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-))/B(B-0 -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-)) = 0.29 +/- 0.06 (stat.) +/- 0.03 (syst.) +/- 0.02 (f(s)/f(d)), B(B-s(0) -> (KSK +/-)-K-0 pi(-/+))/B(B-0 -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-)) = 1.48 +/- 0.12 (stat.) +/- 0.08 (syst.) +/- 0.12 (f(s)/f(d)), B(B-s(0) -> (KSK+K-)-K-0)/B(B-0 -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-)) is an element of [0.004; 0.068] at 90% CL.

The decays Lambda(0)(b) -> psi(2S)pK(-) and Lambda(0)(b) -> J/psi pi(+)pi(-)pK(-) are observed in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1), collected in proton-proton collisions at 7 and 8 TeV centre-of-mass energies by the LHCb detector. The psi(2S) mesons are reconstructed through the decay modes psi(2S) -> mu(+)mu(-) and psi(2S) -> J/psi pi(+)pi(-) The branching fractions relative to that of Lambda(0)(b) -> J/psi pk(-) are measured to be [GRAPHICS] where the first uncertainties are statistical, the second are systematic and the third is related to the knowledge of J/psi and psi(2S) branching fractions. The mass of the Ai baryon is measured to be M(Lambda(0)(b)) = 5619.65 +/- 0.17 0.17 MeV/c(2), where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic.
