Segmented flow comprising discrete volumes of a liquid reaction mixture separated by discrete volumes of immiscible fluid is passed through a tubular reactor for residence times sufficient to precipitate a powder product from the reaction mixture. USE-Manufacture of mixed oxalates of alkali, alkaline earth or transition metals or the powder product can also be an oxide, carbonate, hydroxide or hydroxy carbonate. ADVANTAGE-Powders have good homogeneity and a narrow range of particle sizes compared to powders obtained in conventional batch reactors.
