This lecture covers the application of robotics in lower limb rehabilitation, focusing on motor, sensory, and cognitive aspects. It explains the use of robotic solutions to strengthen muscles, improve sensory functions, and enhance coordination. The lecture delves into the concept of mobilization and evaluation through actuators and sensors, as well as impedance control for interaction strategies. It also discusses the development of devices like the Lokomat and MotionMaker for mobilizing and electrostimulating muscles. The presentation progresses to the implementation of closed-loop muscle electrostimulation for knee orthosis and the extension to a two-leg orthosis. The lecture concludes with the results of a clinical trial using the EPFL prototype for incomplete and complete spinal cord injuries.
