Semisimple algebra
In ring theory, a branch of mathematics, a semisimple algebra is an associative artinian algebra over a field which has trivial Jacobson radical (only the zero element of the algebra is in the Jacobson radical). If the algebra is finite-dimensional this is equivalent to saying that it can be expressed as a Cartesian product of simple subalgebras. The Jacobson radical of an algebra over a field is the ideal consisting of all elements that annihilate every simple left-module.
Jacobson ring
In algebra, a Hilbert ring or a Jacobson ring is a ring such that every prime ideal is an intersection of primitive ideals. For commutative rings primitive ideals are the same as maximal ideals so in this case a Jacobson ring is one in which every prime ideal is an intersection of maximal ideals. Jacobson rings were introduced independently by , who named them after Nathan Jacobson because of their relation to Jacobson radicals, and by , who named them Hilbert rings after David Hilbert because of their relation to Hilbert's Nullstellensatz.
I-adic topology
In commutative algebra, the mathematical study of commutative rings, adic topologies are a family of topologies on the underlying set of a module, generalizing the p-adic topologies on the integers. Let R be a commutative ring and M an R-module. Then each ideal a of R determines a topology on M called the a-adic topology, characterized by the pseudometric The family is a basis for this topology. With respect to the topology, the module operations of addition and scalar multiplication are continuous, so that M becomes a topological module.
