The Leenaards-Jeantet Laboratory of Functional and Metabolic Imaging (LIFMET) at EPFL focuses on non-invasive measurement of metabolic processes and function, particularly in the context of biomedical problems such as neurochemistry and diabetes research. The lab develops innovative approaches, including multinuclear spin physics and metabolic modeling, to measure metabolic reactions in vivo. Research interests span from exploiting spin coupling between nuclei to investigating brain glucose transport and glycogen metabolism. Collaborations with various EPFL institutes enhance the understanding of metabolic concentrations in disease models. LIFMET is dedicated to transmitting knowledge through teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, offering opportunities for student projects and lab rotations.
