The Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience (Bertarelli Chair in Cognitive Neuroprosthetics) at EPFL, led by Olaf Blanke, focuses on studying brain mechanisms related to body perception, awareness, and self-consciousness. Their research spans from investigating multisensory brain mechanisms of body perception to developing cognitive neuroprostheses for clinical applications. The lab pioneers the use of digital technologies like virtual and augmented reality, robotics, and haptics in neuroscience research, aiming to understand the neural basis of self-consciousness. Their work has garnered international attention, including a feature in The New York Times and funding from the Swiss National Science Foundation.
