Prof. Lemaitre Group

The Lemaitre Lab at EPFL, led by Professor Bruno Lemaitre, focuses on understanding mechanisms of microbial infection and host defense responses in Drosophila using genetic and genomic approaches. Their research on Drosophila immunity has provided insights into insect immunity and similarities with mammalian innate immune responses. They employ genetic screens to identify factors regulating the immune response, analyze strategies used by bacteria to subvert the immune system, and study the gut immune response. The lab also investigates Drosophila-Spiroplasma interactions as a model of endosymbiosis, aiming to decipher the molecular mechanisms underlying key features of the symbiosis.
