This chapter investigates the life cycle perfor- mance benefits of intensifying use of an of- fice environment, taking into account the im- pact on user comfort. It highlights the need to revisit how building performance should be measured — not per square meter as a functional unit but in terms of actual occupation through a user-centred approach, notably at the post-occupancy stage.
